演出四个晚上 DEC 27--30. 加拿大国家芭蕾舞团也同时上演该剧( 在四季中心 Four Season Center). 可惜票全部卖光了. 而且时间上也冲突, 只有等明年了.

Yule --- Winter Solstice

今天是一年中白天最短，夜晚最长的一天。学校每年举行活动。傍晚的时候，长长的队伍提着灯笼唱着歌到学校旁边的河谷去走，还敲锣打鼓的。活动结束后，回学校有很多好吃的等着。这个节一般是Dec 21左右。

Yule --- Winter Solstice

The sun is at its nadir, the year's longest night. We internalize and synthesize the outward-directed activities of the previous summer months. Some covens hold a Festival of Light to commemorate the Goddess as Mother giving birth to the Sun God. Others celebrate the victory of the Lord of Light over the Lord of Darkness as the turning point from which the days will lengthen. The name "Yule" derives from the Norse word for "wheel", and many of our customs (like those of the Christian holiday) derive from Norse and Celtic Pagan practices (the Yule log, the tree, the custom of Wassailing, et al).

对孩子说，对自己说。。。

我对孩子说的最多的一句话是：You don't have to be the best, but you have to try your best.

我对自己说的最多的一句话是：Every kid is different.

学期要结束了，report card也都回家了，"望子成龙"版也愈发热闹起来，有关于成绩单的，有关于练琴游泳的。感想很多，但限于时间，只能略略而谈。

Every kid is different. 我见过很聪明很聪明的小孩，但比例不到1%。其余的都是各有所长。很笨的，除非先天疾病，几乎没见过。家长是最了解自己孩子的，不要一窝蜂地只去比成绩单上的A. "闻道有先后，术业有专攻". 道理都知道，落实到自己的孩子身上，恨不得他/她样样都比其他小孩好。其实我们大人本身，也并非如此啊？己所不欲（或不能），勿施于人。而且想想，现在的孩子已经比我们当初要能干很多了。经常做换位思考，会让自己对孩子有更多的理解和宽容。那个关于孩子游泳的帖子，其实也是这个问题。自己的两个孩子，老大在水里像条小鱼儿一样，9岁，下面就上9级了。但她在monkey bar上十分笨拙。小的7岁，4级马上要上第4次了(和那个楼主的孩子有一拼)，没办法，太怕水。但他4岁时候就在monkey bar上上下自如，让边上大好几岁的小孩感叹不已。

release potential but not pushing to the limit. 不管大人小孩，都不喜欢被别人在后面推着走，尤其是当前面有很长一段路要走的时候。激发兴趣，让孩子们自己处于喜欢而去做，效果会大大出于意料。像练琴，不要一开始就逼得太狠. Take it easy. Life is a long journey. Gifted class, 如果能上就上，不必刻意追求，但也不必为了担心女儿嫁不出去而矫情:)。

be a good listener so you will be listened to. 聆听诉求，理解他们的想法，这样到了teenager, 他们也会习惯性地向你倾诉。同时，他们也愿意聆听并接受你的想法。

don't just critize, give a solution/action plan. 孩子毕竟是孩子，他们如果有你一般的智慧，或者他们不是孩子，或者你不是。。。. 一味的抱怨批评无济于事。

schooling & parenting 缺一不可. 一个比喻，孩子是三角形的顶点，学校和家长就是两个基点。别指望老师学校可以代替一切。好学校固然重要，但不是唯一。家长要用心。你的点点滴滴全在孩子的眼里，so，be a good role model. If you yell, you will be yelled back sooner or later.

5年级的时候, 老师说要推荐菲考GIFTED Class(天才班). 六年纪换了老师，就没消息了．　她的好朋友ANNIE转学去了MISSISSAGA, 被推荐考试了.

觉得自己真是太失职了.

心情突然很不好.

一直认为这些不重要, 让孩子上正常的高中. 但是, <我们是这样教育孩子的>中鹏/鲲的妈妈说过: 好的学校, 同伴高水平的竞争对学习是非常有益的.

想起这个学期和老师的交流, 其实根本就没有什么收获. 想起她现在的同学整天玩游戏, ANNIE又转了学, 现在的玩伴都不爱学习. 但是对她的影响却很大. 突然觉得早就应该准备UTS考试的. 该换个学校了.

以前总觉得孩子还小. 其实, 一步步已经比别人晚了.

女儿在Gifted班6年级，没想到班里共9个女孩，有7个在7年级都要去私校，一个去Girl私校，另6个这次都报考了UTS，而我却在UTS的报名时间过了才知道信息，真是失职呀！虽然我没想过要女儿读私校，但还是觉得像是Miss了什么重要的东西。
对我们来说，结果是没什么大不了的。但我们应该提前知道这方面的信息，对孩子去不去考，又去不去读都应该和孩子有个交流。可我们压根没管她，别人报了，还她告诉我们的，才想起上网查查，已是过去时了，不免觉得家长失职。女儿是Sad的，因为她不愿朋友离开。
It is too late to call UTS. I registered my daughter to attend the UTS test, just want to push her to spend more time on study (no effect). Only two students in her school attend the test.yesterday more than 80% of students attending the test are Chinese. Only a few white and Indian.

Remember native people will send their children to private schools only when they are really rich, never care money. On the contrary Chinese parents send their children to private schools even they can't afford a house, or doing labor jobs.

Line



Line was very sad. Everyday he just sits there doing nothing, while cars go over him again and again. One day, Line asked a local painter to paint him into a complete line. So the painter did. Line was happy, but that's when the chaos began.





Shape



Shape was a triangle, his family, wife and child were triangles too, shape received an invitation to a Christmas party, when the arrived, they needed star, the light bulb, no one could get him on, so the shape, family gave it a try, mama went on shape, kid went on Mama, kid tried to reach it, but the other guests thought it looked nice, so they used them as a Christmas tree.

Tone is the shadow of a thousand men, one day, tone went to war with them, all of the men died ,so tone disappeared too, god decided that tone did such a good job following them, so he granted tone another ,life as the shadow of the angel.





Texture



Texture was a carpenter and was very poor, whenever he had spare time, he wood make wooden furniture for his customers, once that was done, he then go over them with his fine sandy self,later that day , one of the kings men same and told texture that the king needed a wooden throne and would pay him a fair price in return , texture agreed and began working, he scraped with his arms and painted the throne a beautiful golden colour ,at last it was done, received his and became one of the most famous carparters that day.











Colour



Colour was yellow and very stubborn, every time she wants something she holds her breath until she gets is, colour saw the paintbrush that she have always wanted and held her breath, she turned red, orange, green, blue and purple1 the owner quickly threw the brush at her, she was so happy ,she immediately painted herself black , she looked in the mirror, screamed and turned white so that day on.colour never considered black and white colour.









Balance



Long, long ago, most of the world was covered by men , only one sixth was women, the women thought it wasn't fair that the men could do this and men could do that, but the can't , so they brought up the was, when balance heard about the war , he decided that it wasn't fair too, but the other men didn't think balance got all their weapons and joined the women , he gave them proper food to eat and finally , the war began , the women killed half of them, surrendered , so they let them have all the right also, from that day on, balance creative the balance of men and women,





Harmony/ Unity



Harmony, vanity, and their parents were Jews, during world war II, they were take to concentration camps, unfortunately , their mother died of typhus and the father died in the gas chambers, shortly after that, the girls were separated, luckily, a few months after being sent to the camps, world war II was over, and they returned home, after hearing the news that both survived the camps, the girls found each over again, back in Germany .where they and the friends celebrated the return of harmony and Unity.

会阅读了,又都是自学的.
怎样才能发展这种孩子的语言智能呢 每天晚上睡觉前都读书给他听.
一旦他自己能阅读了,就给他提供大量的书籍和一个供书证,教他背诵诗歌 ,
玩文字游戏.给他买本好辞典.对他写的及背诵的东西给予评价 .
2.音乐.有音乐天资的孩子喜欢作曲,喜欢各种声音, 如水箱发出的声
音,汽车的刺叭声,打字机键盘发出的声音, 甚至洗衣机的声音.蹒跚学步
时,他可能会好奇地按钢琴键或呆呆地站在琴旁听人弹琴,再大些 ,他或许
能辨别出他熟悉的没有歌词的歌曲或谱成管弦乐的歌曲.他学新歌很快并能
和着乐曲将新歌唱出来.
如何进一步地开发孩子的音乐智能呢 这需要唱歌给他听,租一架钢
琴,买支笛子,找一个称职的教师. 找一所附设音乐课的学校.
3.数理逻辑思维.擅长数理逻辑的孩子大都酷爱分类和模型,这些积木
怎么是一样呢 它们有什么不同 他对西洋跳棋及象棋也很感兴趣,喜爱抽
象,善于类推(如: 两天等于48小时),他也许会构造一个秩序井然的幻想
世界.
有数理逻辑天赋的孩子可能喜欢在透明的塑料盒里分门别类地摆设玩
具.那么你就让他一个人玩玩具和积木.经常同他打牌, 即使他总是赢也一
样进行.看看附近有无其他有数学天资的孩子,他们或许能组成一个数学俱
乐部.
4.空间想象.有这种天赋的孩子想象力很丰富.很小就竭力想画出想象
中的奶瓶之类的东西.
这种天资很容易加以鼓励,开始时,可以给孩子提供几种粘土和模型塑

张生是我的一个朋友，住得离我非常近。 是个教授， 还准备读博士。 是个了不起的教育专家。 他的15岁的儿子，英语法语德语都是大学专业本科毕业水平，数理化更加不用说。在这里读高中很多课程都免修。 今年就已经在准备报考美国的长春藤高校。有谁相信他儿子四岁才开始会说话呢？当年他老婆怕儿子是个哑巴， 眼泪都哭干了。


1． 教育就是不断地激励，先给一个高度让她垫着脚就能够着， 不断地这样，她就把别的孩子甩在后面了。



2． 学习和困难犹如一个大土堆。困难如行车中遇到的障碍，如果遇到，要么后退一下再冲过去，要么绕行。要么就把它分解一点点地搬掉。



3． 每个孩子就是一个事业。所以要花很多的时间来引导。



4． 写作，找优美的文章来抄写。诗歌散文。将作文和美术作品编成一个作品集，印成书。大作家小作文。 大量阅读童话故事。可以让图书室管理员帮忙找。





5． 到图书馆的Library 查 Reference 了解各年级学习大纲。学习的要求。要知道怎样才是一篇好的作文



6． 法语可以找些录像带/VCD/或者儿童节目。



7． 兴趣就是孩子学习的驱动力。 不要强迫而是要引导。 从她的兴趣着手，再慢慢扩展引导到你要求她做的事情，这中间要有衔接，才容易过渡过来。



8． 培养她画画和做Game Maker 的兴趣。 网页。 将她的兴趣和我的工作结合起来



9． 千万不要对孩子打击。大人都一样，越是做不好就越是没兴趣，没精打采。永远就是要鼓劲表扬。不断的鼓励，一个个小的成就感。将她引到你想让她去的方向，让她掉入你设的陷阱。



10． 一个人的能力分7种：动手能力/ 交际能力 /空间思维能力/ 艺术 /文字表达 等。 你要观察自己的孩子哪方面强， 然后将她的兴趣往那方面引， 这样孩子在这方面也相对容易做得更好。



11. 学生的大脑发育是渐进式的。 儿童画先是慢慢轮廓， 再逐渐充实细节，慢慢成长。发展心理学。

人们都认为男孩、女孩在学习能力上有差异。一项最新研究更发现支持了这一观点。研究发现，儿童5岁入学时，两性的学习能力和意识已有分别。这种差异甚至在小孩3岁时就可辨别。不过，研究同时指出，决定定小孩学习能力的关键因素是家庭环境和家庭收入。

加拿大统计局(Statistics
Canada)周一发表报告，引述2002到2003年的数据，对比5岁入学儿童的学习意识，指出女孩在多方面比男孩略胜一筹。研究也发现，除性别差异外，家庭收入、家庭环境，都是影响儿童学习意识的重要因素。

统计局使用的数字来自全国儿童与青少年纵观调查(National Longitudinal Survey of Children and
Youth)，它从2002到2003年间收集3,000多名5岁儿童的数据，分析资料后，得出上述结论。

研究员根据11个标准，比较男孩和女孩的学习能力，发现女孩的沟通技巧、注意力、表现、自己穿衣的得分略高。

男孩只在一项测试的成绩高于女生，就是更好奇。不过，至少1名研究人员对研究结果有保留。

多伦多大学早期幼儿教育主任研究员弗兰德利(Martha
Friendly)说："学习意识属于误导性术语，因为儿童其实从出生就开始学习。"她说，在这个年龄，男孩、女孩间差异甚广，女孩在多个项目得分较高，其实是成熟程度。"这不等于男孩会在学校表现不好，但它可能说明，要男孩安定坐下来、做桌面工作，他们的表现没有那么好。"弗兰德利说："有差异不一定是坏事，我不知什么时候两者差异拉近，但男孩在某时间会赶上女孩。"

研究发现，男孩、女孩在理解词汇、努力、游戏合作性、保持清洁的独立性上，有相同能力。研究人员也发现，两性可能有不同的学习意识，但家庭收入、家庭环境对儿童学习意识有更大的影响。

来自较低收入家庭的儿童，比起生活在富裕家庭的儿童，学习意识较差。生长在高收入家庭的儿童，在词汇、沟通技巧、数字能力、注意力、游戏合作能力上，得分较高。至于家庭环境因素，从父母与儿童的积极交流，到参加体育活动的程度，都能影响儿童的学习意识。

据调查，有46%的十一、二岁学龄儿童感到不快乐，其中绝大部分有负向的自我概念。

我的同事，她是教书法的，同时在书法艺术的领域中，颇有知名度。一次聊天时她告诉我，在她高中以前，她还不曾想过自己会与书法结缘，直至高中第一堂书法课，老师看著她的作业，把她叫到跟前，对著她说了句：你很会写很有天份。就是这么一句话，让她不曾间断的写到现在，即使该位赞赏她的老师，未曾在之后的任何时间特别指导过她，在她心里却认为，自己能有今天的表现，该位老师可谓居功厥伟。因此她相信，懂得赏识孩子，比懂得「如何教」、「教什么」都来的重要。

今年，在学校举办的田径赛中，一个选择性缄默症的孩子，轻轻松松破了运动会长期保有的纪录，看她在领奖时绽开的灿烂笑颜，怎能想像在那闷声不吭的每一天里，师长们曾经为她担心不已。那在运动场上大步跨出的每一步伐，飞扬的秀发与淋漓的汗水，加上场边的欢呼鼓励，理解她背景的旁观者都为这一幕感动不已！发掘这一匹「千里马」的，是能理解她难以开口说话的老师，这位「伯乐」鼓励身材瘦长的她去跑步，果然让她一鸣惊人。最重要的，当她找到这「人生的第一名」时，这位选择性缄默症的孩子，终于开始开放自己与接纳别人，那病症就不存在了。

心理学家Sullivan认为：「自我」是源自于我们所经验到的重要他人对我们的反应，孩子在成长的过程中会不断受到他人的评价，从而发展出「好的我」或「坏的我」的自我概念。「负向的自我概念」就是，经验到他人负面的评价多于正面的，经常接收「坏的我」的讯息。

人本主义的心理学家主张不要给孩子评价，可是孩子明明就生活在一个比较与竞争的社会环境中，连吃饭都比的出快慢，便当盒里的菜都比的出好坏。

而前述的选择性缄默症孩子的例子告诉我们，不要盯著孩子的缺点看，一再要她改变，等于一次一次践踏她的弱点，扩大她对自己的负面看法。而书法老师与高中老师的善缘交会，让她愿意持续努力，创造了不凡的书法造诣。彷佛我们应该了解，不要勉强孩子做他做不来的事，而是要不断鼓励，让他们产生钻研努力的动机与兴趣。

许多大人，其实对孩子设定了太高的标准，总忘了当自己也是孩子时，同样地那么笨拙。也正因为如此，要真心的鼓励孩子就很困难而且说不出口。我曾尝试问过许多出问题孩子的家长们，请他们试著说说孩子的优点，他们通常期期艾艾，想半天挤不出一个字来。当然，长期不被肯定的孩子，带著极为负向的自我概念，怎能期盼他们肯为自己努力，做出对自己人生有帮助的事，对他们而言，选择做坏孩子比做好孩子容易。

不要让孩子瞧不起自己，只要大人细微的去观察，经常肯定他们的优点。有一个19 岁的少年，当我要他说出自己「人生的第一名」时，他毫不犹豫的说：「我每天准时倒垃圾，会煎很漂亮的荷包蛋给家里人当早餐，可是我的爸爸、妈妈、姊姊只会挑我的缺点，我不抽烟、不喝酒、不做坏事，我也可以学坏，但是我不想，我希望我的家人有一天能看到我这么的好。」这是一个多么清楚自己的大男孩啊！可惜在家人的不理解与高度期望的压力下，他躲进幻想的世界里，医生诊断他幻听幻想甚至还开药给他吃。

帮忙孩子，让他找到他「人生的第一名」。每一个人的长处不一，也许做老师家长的并不知道是那一样，但是很简单，只要随时随地的赏识他。
